No Strings Marionette Company presents
The Hobbit

Puppeteers Dan Baginski and Barbara Paulson have toured New England for over a decade leaving rave reviews in their wake. Their creativity reaches into every aspect of the production from script writing and puppetry to costumes, soundtracks and set production. In their unique show, they perform in full view of their audience, having found that children are as interested in how the puppets work as they are in the stories unfolding before them.
In this enchanting prelude to The Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien tells how the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins comes into possession of the One Ring. No Strings Marionette Company's puppeteers adeptly animate marionettes, amazing rod puppet hybrids and life-size body puppets in an adaptation of this stirring adventure fantasy, first published in 1937.
Bilbo Baggins is a Hobbit who wants to be left alone in quiet comfort in his home in The Shire. But the Wizard Gandalf comes along with a band of Dwarves and draws Bilbo into their quest, facing evil goblins, savage wolves, giant spiders, and worse unknown dangers. Bilbo alone encounters the creature Gollum, and must confront the great dragon Smaug, the terror of an entire countryside. In addition to its appeal as a compelling adventure tale, The Hobbit celebrates how anyone, no matter how small, can be a hero.
